In August 2019, Katie finished a Saturday morning Orange Theory Fitness class in Arlington, Virginia. She was planning to drive to Pennsylvania shortly after class for Jess and Sean Reiff's housewarming party. After much debate, Katie called Jess and regretfully told her she wasn't going to make it. Katie had this feeling she should stay in Virginia....

It was a day that was intended to be calm and uneventful, but Katie ended up going to out to lunch and then reluctantly going out in D.C. to the bar Takoda. From across the bar, Katie recognized JMU alumni. Among them was a really cute guy: Danny. Katie walked over to the group, being coy, with the intention of meeting Danny. The two started chatting about JMU, jobs, True Detective and ultimately exchanged numbers. There first date was the next week, followed by a second date at Filomena's.

From the beginning, Katie and Danny felt they had an honest, special connection and they continue to build on these values as their relationship grows.
